Officials survey health and medicine sectors in Wudang district

A delegation led by Zhang Yu, head of the Guiyang Bureau of Science and Technology, visited Wudang district on Jan 19 to learn more about its development of the health and medicine industries.

Wudang district is located in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The delegation went to pharmaceutical companies in the district, visiting their research centers, manufacturing shops and product exhibition halls to become acquainted with their development and innovation processes.

During a meeting, Wudang officials briefed the district's development in the health and medicine sectors and the planning and construction of an industrial park focused on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and medical device manufacturing.

Zhang said at the meeting that Wudang has regional advantages in the health and medicine sectors. He also stated that he hopes that the district will focus on innovation in these sectors and help companies achieve scientific and technological breakthroughs in critical areas.

He added that the science and technology bureau would give full support for constructing the TCM and medical device manufacturing industrial park in the district. The bureau will also help enterprises tackle innovation and development problems to ensure high-quality growth in the district's health and medicine sectors.
