Guizhou Xintianxin Chemical Co, located in Kaiyang county, has invested more than 460 million yuan ($63.99 million) over the past two years in green technological upgrades for a phosphorus-carbon chemistry production demonstration plant. The project is progressing smoothly and has reached 90 percent completion.
For Xintianxin, halting all production to initiate this technological upgrade project was no small task. However, Gan Liwei, the company's general manager, believes this path is essential.
In the Xintianxin plant, a fully enclosed, automated conveyor belt system over 300 meters long transports raw materials to the production line. This low-carbon and cleaner option reduces the need for transportation, meaning there are few transport trucks and rarely any staff in sight.
"The traditional chemical production process is complex and relies heavily on manual tasks such as raw material loading, valve control, monitoring, and early warnings. These make it difficult to ensure stable product quality and pose safety risks," said Gan.
Therefore, the company has introduced automation and intelligent systems, incorporating a distributed control system into the chemical production environment. This system enables full automation from raw material input to product output, and allows real-time monitoring of the production process.
Through these upgrades, Xintianxin has gradually overcome transformation challenges, shifting from traditional chemical production to smart, green chemical production. With intelligent systems, the company has doubled its output with the same workforce, achieving more stable product quality and boosting economic and ecological benefits. Xintianxin expects its annual yellow phosphorus production to increase from 42,000 metric tons to 90,000 tons, with annual output value rising significantly from 1 billion yuan to 2.08 billion yuan.
