There used to be no large agricultural and trade market in the southern part of Huaxi district's urban area. Other markets were located at a considerable distance, and surrounding small markets were dirty, disorderly, and of poor quality.
To address this issue, Huaxi has been developing the Southern Comprehensive Agricultural and Trade Market. It is being funded and built by Guizhou Huaxi Agricultural Development Investment Group. Through a cooperative arrangement, Guizhou Farm Union Industrial Group will lead its operation. Construction commenced in March last year.
"We have set up a total of 129 different kinds of stalls and stands, categorizing them into different areas for cooked food, fresh food, dry goods, and more. We have planned uniform facades, doors, windows, and operational counters for each operating vendor, installed separate electric meters, and provided dedicated water supply channels," said Huang Shijue, the deputy general manager of Huaxi Agricultural Investment Group.
He emphasized that to ensure the safety of food at the market, market management requires daily product testing to guarantee the quality of incoming and outgoing products, providing a comfortable and secure shopping experience.
The new market is clean, spacious, and has high foot traffic. Local merchants no longer need to travel several kilometers to the old market to set up stalls for their businesses.
