Huaxi district in Guiyang released its 2023 goals for ecological development on Aug 15, the first National Ecology Day.
The district will establish a 400-mu (26.67 hectares) forest-derived economic demonstration base. After the total utilization area of forest-derived economy exceeds 50,000 mu, the output value of the entire industrial chain of forest-derived economy is expected to exceed 1.6 billion yuan ($219.52 million).
Huaxi will implement land greening efforts: tending to more than 10,000 mu of forests and adding 200,000 square meters of urban green space.
The added value of green economy in Huaxi is set to account for 50 percent of its regional GDP.
Efforts will also be made to accelerate the urban renovation or construction projects and improve the utilization rate of domestic waste resources to at least 65 percent.
The district will also ensure that the quality of drinking sources reaches the standard level, the urban sewage treatment rate reaches 98 percent, and the comprehensive utilization rate of industrial solid waste increases to 98.5 percent.
