Guiyang Gaopo Yunding Ski Resort was established in June 2014, and the related ski offerings have been available since the beginning of 2015. It has also cultivated a large sea of flower visitors to admire.

The total investment in Phase I and Phase II has exceeded 140 million yuan ($19.29 million). There are two beginner ski slopes with a length of approximately 260 meters, two intermediate ski slopes with a length of approximately 300 meters, and five snow circles. The snow play area covers an area of 3,600 square meters and can accommodate 200 people at once.  

In September 2015, a dry ski slope and a snow circle track for year-round skiing and entertainment were also built for tourists. A 130-meter-long magic carpet that can carry tourists is also available.

An investment of 4 million yuan was made in 2020 to build a 100-mu (6.67 hectares) flower sea, which became the first internet-famous attraction in Guiyang that year. In 2021, the flower sea began its Phase II expansion with an investment of 6 million yuan, with the expanded area reaching 300 mu. In 2022, the Phase III expansion, with an investment of 8 million yuan, saw the upgrading of supporting facilities and overall greening of the scenic area. In 2023, it entered Phase IV with an investment of 7 million yuan, during which a 100-mu four-season flower valley was built, including more than 200 varieties of flower.

After the completion of the four-season flower valley, the operating period of the flower season will be extended from July-October to April-October.
