Gaopo village selected as key towns for rural tourism in Guizhou

The Guizhou Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission have announced the third batch of key towns for rural tourism in the province, which included Gaopo township in Huaxi district, Guiyang, capital of the province.

Gaopo, as the name suggests in Chinese, is a high-altitude area, one of the highest areas in Guiyang.

In recent years, Gaopo has been vigorously developing its tourism industry, introducing new tourist attractions such as the Shimen Flower Sea, Yunding Flower Sea, Yunding Ski Resort, and Baigongyan Waterfall.

In Yunding village, Guizhou Yunding Ecological Tourism Co built Guiyang's first ski resort in Gaopo several years ago. After the resort proved successful, they planned to build a flower sea, aiming to provide visitors with different experiences throughout the year.

Currently, the Yunding Flower Sea includes over 100 varieties of flowers, and the flower season lasts from April to November.

In addition, Gaopo has an over-200-mu (13.33 hectares) ecological blueberry orchard. Its annual output is about 50,000 kilograms, most of which is sold through tourist picking, generating annual sales of more than 1 million yuan ($138,700).
