Guiyang Aha Lake National Wetland Park, partly located in Huaxi district, Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was recently selected among the first batch of National Forest and Grass Science Popularization Bases.
The national forest and grass science popularization bases, jointly named and managed by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Ministry of Science and Technology, play a significant role in supporting the national special science popularization bases.
Leveraging forest and grassland resources including wetland, desert, and wild flora and fauna, they are important areas to educate people about nature and host ecological experience activities. The bases also represent the latest scientific and technological achievements in terms of safeguarding forests and grasslands, and showcase the fruits of ecological civilization while presenting works to help popularize scientific studies.
Aha Lake Wetland Park in Southwest Guiyang is a green ecological corridor dubbed the city's lung. It offers wetland ecological protection, wetland displays, and opportunities to promote scientific education.
As a representative wetland park featuring karst terrains, it is also an important model of wetland resource conservation and eco-friendly utilization in the karst region of Southwest China. It remains popular since its opening, receiving 35,000 visitors on average on weekends and holidays.
