Huaxi district in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, received more than 1.55 million tourist visits and generated 906.11 million yuan ($131.12 million) in tourism revenue during the May Day holiday from April 29 to May 3.
Local major tourist attractions, including Shizi Street, Qingyan Ancient Town, and Tianhetan scenic area, launched themed activities to attract visitors and satisfy their traveling needs.

Qingyan Ancient Town, in particular, upgraded the functional layout, tourism-supporting facilities, and public infrastructure, integrated catering, accommodation, transportation, shopping, and entertainment, and added its tourist products and services.
The holiday also made Huaxi's homestay sector a boom in supply and demand. Camping bases and rustic luxury hotels were popular among visitors, with the number of holiday room orders increasing by 3 to 4 times compared to 2022.
