Free exhibition on Huaxi embroidery technique opens to public

An exhibition on Tiaohua cross-stitch work in Huaxi district of Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has opened to the public free of charge in local Huaxi Park. 

The exhibition is hosted by the Huaxi Cultural and Tourism Committee and organized by the Huaxi Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television and Tourism.

Huaxi Tiaohua cross-stitch work refers to a Miao embroidery technique which is ubiquitous in the lives of local Miao people and has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage item. 

There are 10 representative Miao costume suits on display in the exhibition, showcasing the changes that have occurred in the Tiaohua cross-stitch technique from 1920 to 2000. Through a combination of pictures and text, the exhibition also shows the stories behind the passing down and development of this exquisite embroidery technique by Miao women from Huaxi district. 

The exhibition will run until March.
