Passenger flow surges in Guiyang railway stations during Qingming Festival

The five-day Qingming Festival transportation period (from April 3 to April 7) came to a close on April 7. According to reports from Guiyang Railway Station – which oversees Guizhou's major railway stations of Guiyangbei, Guiyangdong, and Guiyang – a total of 683,000 outbound passengers traveled during this period, averaging 137,000 passengers per day.

This marked a 40-percent increase compared to 2019, setting a new record for the highest number of passengers during this period in recent years.

During the five-day period, Guiyangbei Railway Station saw 468,000 outbound passengers, Guiyangdong Railway Station saw 99,000 outbound passengers, and Guiyang Railway Station saw 116,000 outbound passengers.

A travel peak was registered on April 4, with a combined total of 188,000 outbound passengers from the three stations, reaching a new record of Qingming Festival transportation.

The railway passenger flow during the holiday mainly consisted of short and medium-haul trips to and from locations such as Zunyi, Bijie, Liupanshui, Tongren, Libo, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Kunming.

Guiyang's three major railway stations enhanced their on-site services to assist passengers such as the elderly, the physically challenged and ill people, pregnant women, and children in boarding the trains.

They reinforced maintenance work on air conditioning and elevators, increased personnel on overpasses, underpasses, and platforms, as well as offered safety promotion and travel guidance to ensure passengers a safe, orderly, and comfortable journey.

In mid-April, Guiyang Railway Station will adjust its train operation schedule for the second quarter of this year, optimizing train services to better assist travelers that are visiting Guizhou.
