Guiyang and Gui'an holds basketball tournament for farmers

The 18th 100-Village Farmer Basketball Tournament of Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area was launched in Guiyang's Qingzhen county-level city on Feb 19.

The event was organized by the publicity department of the CPC Guiyang Municipal Committee, the Guiyang Bureau of Sports, and the Guiyang Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The event's coordinators are the Guiyang Municipal Sports Training Center and various district-level publicity, culture, sports, tourism and agriculture departments. Additionally, the Guiyang Basketball Association co-organized the event.

The tournament aims to enhance village construction, promote farmers' health, put a spotlight on rural culture, and drive rural vitalization through sports competitions.

The tournament features three stages: township (town)-level preliminaries, district (county-level city, county)-level preliminaries, and the municipal-level finals. These matches will be held simultaneously across Guiyang's districts, county-level cities, and counties.

The opening match showcased the teams from Huakou village and Songpo village in Qingzhen. The game began with Songpo's center taking the lead, but the Huakou team, known for their agility and speed, swiftly closed the gap with fast breaks and a sharp offense.

The audience cheered as both teams displayed precise three-pointers, swift drives, and a tight defense. Ultimately, Songpo emerged victorious, securing the first win of the tournament.

Apart from the thrilling matches, the competition has also organized an exhibition area to promote local agricultural products and the "Hongfeng Lake tourism route map". This map introduces local attractions, accommodations, and culinary delights.
