A truck carrying 43 metric tons of agricultural products from Southwest China's Guizhou province drove out of Gui'an Free Trade Zone (Gui'an FTZ) on Dec 28, marking the official opening of the Southeast Asia cross-border logistics route.

In order to quickly establish a land route to Southeast Asia, Gui'an FTZ focused on the export of Guizhou's agricultural products such as pumpkins, onions, and potatoes, as well as the import of high-quality fruits from Southeast Asia.

Targeting the difficulties faced by import-export enterprises, Gui'an FTZ optimized transportation plans, strengthened policy support, and initiated the opening of the import-export route from Gui'an to Vietnam via Guangxi's Pingxiang city.

By utilizing measures such as pre-transit warehouses in Pingxiang and providing customs clearance and inspection support, the route has effectively reduced costs and improved efficiency for enterprises.

The route will start full operation in the second half of 2024. By then, it will rely on the electronic information enterprises in Gui'an FTZ, establish an export distribution center for electronic information products headed to Southeast Asia, and provide import-export logistics services.

Together with warehouses in Pingxiang and Vietnam, the zone will build a warehousing and logistics system that focuses on cross-border logistics. Plans are to expand this system to various other Southeast Asian destinations in the future.

Based on the success of this route, Gui'an FTZ will strive to open more routes to Laos and Thailand. It aims to deepen industrial connections with Southeast Asian countries, fully leverage the benefits of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and promote the zone's high-quality development.
