According to the commendation conference of the 2022-2023 National Quality Engineering Award held in Beijing on Dec 24, the Tencent Qixing Cave-depot Data Center, built by Gui'an Industrial Development Holding Group, was awarded the National Quality Engineering Award.
Established in 1981, the National Quality Engineering Award is the oldest, highest-specification cross-industry and cross-profession national quality award in China, recognized by the State Council.
The Tencent Qixing Cave-depot Data Center's achievement in winning the award indicates Gui'an Industrial Development Holding Group's strength and expertise in data center construction.
The Tencent Qixing Cave-depot Data Center in Gui'an New Area is the first of its kind in China. It is also the first ultra-high-level, green, and efficient disaster recovery data center, using natural mountain terrain as its main structure.
Spanning an area of 776 mu (51.73 hectares), with a total investment of 820 million yuan, the center has a built-up area of approximately 30,000 square meters and can accommodate 50,000 servers.
Construction began in September 2017 and was completed in July 2020, making it the highest-level protected data center in China.
During the design and construction of the center, Gui'an Industrial Development Holding Group and other construction companies broke conventional design thinking for ground-based data centers.
Through innovative techniques and methods, it completed tunnel excavation within four months. By leveraging the geographic environment and the mountainous area, underground space was fully utilized.
Taking advantage of the mountain's explosion resistance and the insulating properties of rock layers, design techniques such as separate hot and cold aisles and independent storage spaces were employed to maximize resource conservation, environmental protection, and pollution reduction and provide a safe, reliable, healthy, and efficient operating environment for electronic information equipment and personnel.
