Guiyang's environment of excellent quality in 2023

So far this year, the good and excellent environmental air quality rate in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been 99.1 percent.

The water quality of all 28 national and provincial control sections reached national standards, with an excellent rate of 96.43 percent. The water quality of 15 centralized drinking water sources also reached national standards.

Guiyang currently has a forest coverage rate of 55.3 percent. It has a total of 1,025 parks, with an average per capita park green area of 14.85 square meters in the urban area.

The city's biodiversity has remained high. Prominent environmental issues such as pollution in the Nanming River and ecological restoration of mines have been effectively resolved.

Guiyang now has bluer skies, clearer waters, greener mountains, and a more beautiful environment, improving quality of life.

Guiyang is also accelerating the promotion of industrial ecologicalization, focusing on energy-intensive and high-emission traditional industries such as the phosphorus chemical industry, aluminum and aluminum processing, and implementing circular transformation and low-carbon emission reduction.

It is developing low-energy, low-emission, high value-added industries such as the digital industry and electronic information manufacturing.

Guiyang has also been developing its forest-derived economy. The total area of land used for the forest-derived economy in Guiyang and Guian New Area is 1.39 million mu (92,506.67 hectares), with an output value of 6.69 billion yuan.

With high-quality summer retreats, Guiyang has launched special tourism routes and experiences, creating attractions such as the Taoyuan River outdoor sports base.

It has certified a total of 126 green agricultural products, 52 organic foods, and 19 geographical indication products.
