The Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2023 began in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on July 8, and led to strong results.

This year's forum, titled "Pursuing modernization of harmony between humanity and nature – promoting green and low-carbon development", gathered together domestic and foreign political and business leaders, experts and scholars, as well as noted figures in all fields to discuss strategies to promote green and low-carbon development and the way of harmonious coexistence and modernization between man and nature, and seek the road of global ecological civilization construction.

During the two-day event, the "Mayors' Forum on High-Quality Development: Green Transition Empowers High-quality Development of Cities" kicked off, gathering together mayors, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars from home and abroad as well as heads of international institutions to discuss urban green transition.

The forum was hosted by Guiyang Municipal People's Government, supported by International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), and co-organized by Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, Guiyang Bureau of Ecology and Environment, and Guiyang University.

Mayors from eight cities at home and abroad shared their experiences and practices in ecological protection and sustainable development and jointly explored new paths and models to promote urban green and low-carbon development.

Subsequently, Guiyang signed letters of intent to establish friendly city relations with Trang Province in Thailand and Pakse City in Laos.

To date, Guiyang has 29 international sister cities and friendly exchange cities.

At the closing ceremony, the "2023 Guiyang Consensus" was released, consisting of 14 consensuses in four categories.

Three of consensuses reached during the forum were based on the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", while four were based on adhering to the harmony between humanity and nature to build a beautiful and clean world.

The remaining consensuses were based on the leadership of innovation-driven technology and green and low-carbon development.
