Cities and areas in Southwest China established an alliance on Oct 15 in the Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous region in Yunnan province, for the coordinated development of culture and tourism.
Kunming city signed up to the alliance - as did Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous region, Nanning city and Guilin city in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Guiyang city and the Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture in Guizhou province.
The alliance aims to coordinate the marketing resources in the six areas, as well as establish a common business platform for tourism promotions, news releases, advertisements and marketing.
With the platform, the six areas can coordinate tourism resources and information to achieve mutual development.
The alliance will hold working meetings to discuss various approaches to culture and tourism development, plan more culture and tourism products, push for more business and implement targeted promotions.
All tourism industry association members in the areas will automatically become members of the alliance, while companies and leaders in the culture and tourism sectors can be recommended as alliance members.
The alliance will adopt a rotating chairman system, with the presidents of tourism industry associations from the six areas serving as long-term chairmen.
They will be in charge of the alliance's work and activities, help with the launch and promotion of the six areas' culture and tourism products and promote cooperation and exchanges between companies.
