Guiyang district shows charms of its green environment

Guanshanhu district in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has become an area with a livable environment after 20 years of development.

In 2013, Guanshanhu was approved as one of the first batch of Guizhou's ecological civilization pilot demonstration areas. In 2014, Guiyang supported Guanshanhu in becoming a national ecological civilization pilot area.

In 2015, Guanshanhu was selected as one of China's top 10 cities for ecological civilization, while its Guanshanhu Park was renowned as a national top 10 scenic spot for ecological civilization.

In September 2019, Guanshanhu was officially conferred the title of national ecological civilization construction demonstration area by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.

Since its establishment in 2000, Guanshanhu district, the former Jinyang new area, has strived to develop its green industries, and has attracted environmentally-friendly industries such as high-end manufacturing, e-commerce, modern logistics and big data.

With targeted domestic and international investment promotion, Guanshanhu has introduced large-scale projects such as an international trade city and an international finance center.

Guanshanhu also take measures in environmental protection. Following constant efforts, the rate of excellent air quality in Guanshanhu has been improved from 80 percent in 2013 to 98.6 percent in 2019.

Meanwhile, the rate of excellent river water quality has been improved from less than 50 percent in 2013 to 87.5 percent in 2019, and the forest coverage percentage has been improved from 43 percent in 2013 to 46 percent in 2019.

In the future, Guanshanhu will stick to its environmental protection-oriented development, and allow more residents to share in the achievements of green development.
