The Fifth Seminar on Design, Engineering and Equipment Selection for New Energy Power Stations opened on July 24 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, according to local media reports.

The seminar was sponsored by a resident company of the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (Guiyang HIDZ) -- Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) Guiyang Engineering Corporation Limited -- together with the China Photovoltaic Industry Association and the PVmen website, Guiyang HIDZ officials said.

The two-day event had sub-forums on solar power, wind power, energy storage and multi-energy.

It invited State-class design institutes, local authorities, investors, product manufacturers and policy experts to give over 40 keynote talks.

Officials said these discussed trends in new energy, local developments and the future direction of solar energy.

The event was an important communications platform for the new energy sector and for business and exchanges, according to a manager from PowerChina Guiyang Engineering Corporation Limited.

He added that, as a research-oriented group -- specializing in the survey, design and planning of hydroelectric, wind and solar power generation -- the company would keep innovating.

It would continue to implement new development concepts and work together with all parties in the sector.

This would help ensure global clean and renewable energy, water resources and the environment -- as well as infrastructure and other areas of engineering and technical services, the general contracting of projects, investments and operations businesses and market development.
