Clean and efficient electricity promotion event held in Guiyang

As part of Guizhou province's activities to promote 10 major industries, a production and sales coordination event for clean and efficient electricity was held in Guiyang July 16.

The aim is for the event to become a communication platform for all parties involved in the electricity market, leading to expansion of the market, reduction of cost for consumers, promotion of photovoltaic projects, and guaranteeing the stable development of Guizhou's industries.

During the event, three contracts were signed to buy 16.83 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.

According to a report released at the event, during the first half of 2020, Guizhou completed 15.69 billion yuan ($2.24 billion) of investment in the electricity industry, a year-on-year increase of 18.2 percent.

The installed power generating capacity of Guizhou in the first half of the year totaled 67.08 million kW, while electricity consumption reached 75.71 billion kWh.

Meanwhile, electricity costs were reduced by 640 million yuan for individual users and 800 million yuan for companies.

Since the beginning of this year, the contracted electricity quantity totaled 58.98 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 46.7 percent, and more low voltage electricity users participated in trading, reaching 3.57 billion kWh of contracts, a year-on-year increase of 582 percent.
