The 2020 national college entrance examination, or gaokao, kicked off at 9 am on July 7 and will last until July 9, with over 350,000 candidates in Southwest China's Guizhou province attending the examination at 248 test sites.

A total of 470,602 students signed up for this year's gaokao, including 223,274 science students, 125,324 liberal arts students, 30,288 art students and 18,550 sports students.

In addition, 42,557 students were enrolled through the higher vocational classification examination.

Guizhou has set test sites in nine cities and prefectures, including Guian New Area, and these sites are staffed by a total of 61,515 staff members.

To ensure the safety of the gaokao using epidemic prevention and control measures, Guizhou Provincial Administration of State Secrets Protection, Guizhou Health Commission and Guizhou Provincial Department of Public Security will work cooperatively at Guizhou's national education examination command center during gaokao.
