Glovis Leader books orders through 2030

The Glovis Leader, the world's largest car carrier with a capacity of 10,800 vehicles, was delivered in Guangzhou on April 28. Built by Guangzhou Shipyard International, the vessel has secured orders stretching to 2030.

The carrier, measuring 230 meters in length and 40 meters in width, features 14 vehicle decks. It is equipped with an LNG dual-fuel propulsion system and a domestically developed shaft generator for electricity production while sailing, meeting high environmental standards.

Delivered to South Korea's HMM and set to be operated by Hyundai Glovis, the vessel highlights China's growing prowess in high-end shipbuilding. The Guangzhou shipyard has delivered 26 car carriers to date, with its current order book valued at about 100 billion yuan ($14.7 billion). Overseas contracts account for over 95 percent of the total, underscoring strong international recognition of China's advanced shipbuilding capabilities and reliability.
