Nansha cruise terminal wraps up May Day holiday operations

The "Aida Mediterranea" cruise ship returned to the Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Home Port on May 5, concluding a six-day international voyage and successfully wrapping up the port's May Day holiday operations.

The vessel carried 1,769 passengers, who visited destinations such as Hue, Vietnam and Hong Kong during the trip. Passengers praised the port's convenient customs clearance and quality services.

Located at the geographic center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Nansha cruise terminal is one of Asia's largest and most fully equipped cruise home ports. It features berths capable of accommodating the world's largest cruise ships and an annual designed passenger throughput of 750,000.

To ensure smooth operations during the holiday, Nansha Customs deployed intelligent inspection channels and tailored clearance plans, enabling passengers to complete health checks without stopping. Immigration authorities also optimized procedures and opened fast-track lanes to further reduce waiting times.

Since the port began regular operations in December 2024, Nansha Customs has processed over 180,000 inbound and outbound passengers, the highest volume in the Greater Bay Area. A second domestically built large cruise ship is also expected to begin regular operations from the Nansha terminal by the end of the year.
