The Nansha district of Guangzhou in South China's Guangdong province has unveiled the nation's first cross-border intellectual property agency partnership mechanism to enhance the integration and collaborative development of the sector across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
The launching ceremony was held on April 20 at a thematic event celebrating Nansha's Intellectual Property Promotional Week ahead of the 26th World Intellectual Property Day, which falls on April 26.
The mechanism establishes a new model of joint services among IP agencies on the Chinese mainland and in Hong Kong and Macao, enabling the simultaneous application, registration, and protection of trademarks and patents across the three regions. It supports innovators in rapidly securing IP protection and fostering a unified IP marketplace.
During the event, Guangzhou Weidou Patent Agency and Hong Kong's Goldenvine IP signed a cross-border IP agency partnership agreement, establishing the nation's first such partnership in Nansha. The consortium also signed its first cross-border agency contract with Guangdong Luole Intelligent Technology, bringing the mechanism from concept to practice.
The initiative effectively reduces the costs associated with IP coordination and agency services across the regions, breaking down barriers and improving service efficiency. It offers a replicable and scalable "Nansha model" for IP collaboration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The event also showcased several innovative IP services and strengthened cross-departmental protection systems, injecting new momentum into the region's IP development.
