The Artificial Intelligence Sub-Forum of the 2024 Greater Bay Area Science Forum and the 5th China (Guangdong) AI Summit opened at the Nansha International Convention and Exhibition Center in Guangzhou, on Nov 17, 2024.

Adopting the theme "AI & Future", the AI sub-forum brought together academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, foreign academicians, experts, and representatives from Pengcheng Laboratory, Baidu, iFlytek, Tencent, and Zhipu, as well as over 1,000 professionals in the industry.

They held in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics such as AI and cutting-edge technologies, innovation ecosystems, empowering industries, and more. The event featured specialized presentations and roundtable meetings, giving participants the chance to exchange insights on new technologies and trends in the AI sector.

In recent years, Guangdong has introduced policy measures such as a plan for next-generation AI development, aiming to drive the advancement of AI. Currently, the province boasts significant platforms like Pengcheng Laboratory, Shaoguan Data Center Cluster, Hengqin Advanced Intelligent Computing Platform, and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Supercomputing Center. It has also strengthened connectivity of large-scale computing resources across national intelligent computing centers, supercomputing centers, and data centers in order to boost computational efficiency.

By implementing key R&D programs, Guangdong is supporting the development of independent-developed computing chips and toolchains, thereby propelling the rapid development of the AI sector.
