Inaugural Nansha (Greater Bay Area) Half Marathon set to kick off

On Oct 11, the Nansha people's government hosted a press conference to announce the 2024 Guangzhou Nansha (Greater Bay Area) Half Marathon. This marks the first time Nansha is hosting a marathon event.

The marathon is scheduled to start at 7:30 am on Dec 1 at the Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Homeport, accommodating up to 15,000 participants and highlighting a modern urban landscape with distinct Chinese characteristics.

The Nansha Marathon will accentuate a youthful positioning, introducing a dedicated university student category and initiating a series of initiatives to attract young participants, with the objective of positioning Nansha as a preferred destination for university students seeking employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.

The press conference introduced the race's design elements, featuring a predominant visual theme in sapphire blue, the race logo integrating data chains and rudder elements, and the medal design incorporating landmarks like the Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Homeport, enabling the coupling of medals into a unified piece.

The race route is set to pass through key attractions in Nansha, starting from the Guangzhou Nansha International Cruise Homeport, passing through Puzhou Garden, Tianhou Temple, the Binhai Park, Nansha Pearl Bay Bridge, Phoenix Bridge, and reaching the permanent venue of the Nansha International Finance Forum (IFF) among other urban architectural and historical cultural landmarks, allowing out-of-town participants to experience the charm of Nansha.

The Nansha Marathon aims to become a successful sporting event, showcasing the vitality and charm of Nansha, while adding a new sports and cultural atmosphere to Guangzhou.
