Nansha student wins national athletics gold medal

Liang Xuanming from Nansha district recently won first place in the boys' junior high school 200m at the 2024 Chinese Middle School Student Athletics Championships. With an outstanding time of 22.47 seconds, he secured Nansha's first national athletics gold medal.

Liang expressed that this achievement is a testament to hard work and dedication. He has already set his sights on becoming a 400m athletics elite by the age of 16 within five months.

Liang attends Nansha Binhai Experimental School, where he discovered his athletic potential in physical education classes, joined the school's athletics team, and received recognition from the physical education teacher Xu Zhidan.

He trains with the athletics team every day after school, extending his training hours during the winter and summer vacations, with a focus on speed and strength. In addition to team training, Liang began running in the mornings in his third year of junior high school to improve his endurance and multi-event capabilities.

Liang emphasizes the importance of balancing athletics and academics, strengthening his studies through methods such as solving practice problems to reap a bountiful harvest in both sports and academics.

He strives to become a top athlete in the future and aspires to study sports science at universities, such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, and South China University of Technology.
