Recently, the 2024 national launch event for Nansha yellow butter crabs and the promotion of Nansha blue crabs took place at the Nansha Xinghe CoCo Park in Guangzhou.

Due to the unique environment near the mouth of the Pearl River, the Nansha blue crab has become the signature product of the local area.

In 2023, the total area of blue crab aquaculture in the district was about 20,000 mu (1,333.33 hectares), with an annual output of nearly 4,000 metric tons, contributing approximately 15 billion yuan ($2.07 billion) to the total output value of the Nansha fishing industry, accounting for about a quarter of it.

In January 2022, the "Nansha blue crab" attained registration as a national geographical indication trademark. Subsequently, it secured recognition as a distinguished and superior new agricultural product, along with organic and Guangdong quality certifications. In November 2023, Nansha was bestowed the title of "Hometown of Chinese Yellow Butter Crabs".

Nansha has leveraged online and offline integration to establish flagship store platforms, promoting the sales and marketing of Nansha blue crabs. The Nansha Blue Crab Association signed a strategic cooperation agreement with JD Fresh, expanding its online sales channels.

The brand image of the Nansha blue crab has been gradually established, making it one of the representatives of local agricultural products and bringing tangible economic benefits to local farmers.
