On May 20, a delegation comprising media representatives from 25 Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) countries continued their visits in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The delegation paid an on-site visit to the Nansha Port Area of Guangzhou Port and the mega infrastructure project, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
At the Nansha Planning Exhibition Hall, the press delegation familiarized themselves with the development roadmap as well as the industrial layout in the area. From the vantage point overlooking the Nansha Port, the delegation bore witness to a fully automated container terminal. Later on the trip, the delegation embarked on a highway trip on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
Gligo Tomanovic, the Head of RTCG, a national media station in Montenegro, expressed his delight at witnessing a higher degree of economic vitality in the GBA compared to his initial visit to China 20 years ago. In his interview with GDToday, Gligo credited China for practical cooperation with Montenegro on the Belt and Road Initiative over the years. "We have cooperated with China in building our first highway," he said, "and we are quite satisfied with the work performed by the Chinese companies." He hopes that as the two nations stand closer, Montenegro will welcome a bigger influx of Chinese tourists.
After the excursion across the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Stan-Emmanuel Neacsu, a journalist from Romania, lauded the project as another historical wonder in China after the Great Wall. "All I can say is that it's a marvelous construction. I might compare it with the Great Wall as it was probably very hard to construct," he told GDToday. Noting the existing participation of Chinese firms in highway initiatives in Romania, he anticipates more direct investment from China to create greater connectivity and job opportunities.
Up next, the delegation will travel to several high-tech enterprises in Shenzhen for technological discovery.
