Large-scale harvest of luffa in Nansha

Recently, a large amount of luffas at the technology center has matured and hit the market located on Sanmin Island in Wanqingsha town, Nansha district, showing an increase in yield of over 15 percent compared to traditional cultivation methods.

Sanmin Island, affected by low temperatures and salty air, has experienced low efficiency in local gourd production.

Nansha Agriculture and Rural Science Academy, with its expertise and dedication, has spearheaded the introduction of efficient early spring big wax gourd cultivation techniques at the technology center. This has led to early ripening, high yields, and increased profitability, demonstrating the academy's commitment to improving agricultural practices.

Farmers are increasingly optimistic about the economic benefits of cultivating luffa at the technology center. The project team has also introduced four different varieties of luffa for demonstration, with two superior varieties identified for next year's production. These advancements promise even greater benefits for farmers, further encouraging them to adopt our techniques.

On April 3, a live exchange meeting on the cultivation of luffa was held at the technology center. The project leader highlighted the key aspects of extensive wax gourd management, including variety selection, cultivation management techniques, cold protection, and pest control.

The association has been providing technical, managerial, and talent support to local agricultural enterprises and growers, thereby aiding in the transformation and upgrading of the farm industry and increasing the income and efficiency of agricultural enterprises and growers in Nansha.
