The Shiziyang Channel, stretching from Guangzhou's Nansha district to Humen town in Dongguan, enters a comprehensive construction stage at the beginning of 2024.

The project comprises 34 work points, all of which are currently operational. Construction of the bearing platform for the main tower of the bridge has commenced. The first section of the main bridge's steel shell has passed the acceptance process.

This project marks the third mega-scale east-west multi-story composite highway passage in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, following the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.

The project is scheduled to be completed and put into use in 2028.

The channel's main bridge, Shiziyang Bridge, spans 2,180 meters, encompassing a total length of approximately 35.1 kilometers. Designed to accommodate speeds of up to 100 km per hour, the bridge features eleven interchanges and one service area along its route.

Upon completion, this project is poised to claim the title of the world's largest double-deck suspension bridge in terms of span. Furthermore, it is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on the Humen Nansha bridges, playing a crucial role in enhancing infrastructure connectivity. This development will facilitate the creation of a one-hour traffic circle within the Greater Bay Area, marking a significant milestone in the region's transportation network.
