The 2023 Guangzhou Open is set to be held in Nansha from Sept 16 to 23.
This event is one of the earliest professional women's tennis tournaments in China. It was established by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) and is considered one of the three oldest professional tennis events in the country, along with the China Open and the Shanghai Masters.
As the first WTA event to resume in China since 2019, this year's entry list includes many rising-stars, such as Chinese tennis players Zhu Lin, Wang Xinyu, and Wang Xiyu. This year's Australian Open semifinalist Magda Linette will also be competing in the event.
The Guangzhou Open has become an important platform for promoting women's tennis in China. It not only provides Chinese players with the opportunity to compete with top international players, but also enhances the popularity and influence of women's tennis in the country.
