The conjoining of the two sides of Hongqimen Grand Bridge's deck was completed on May 21, accelerating the traffic interconnection of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The Hongqimen Grand Bridge, with a total length of 1,126 meters and a total width of 43.2 meters, is a key project of the Nansha-Zhongshan Expressway, which is expected to be opened to traffic by the end of 2024.
The twin-tower, twin-cable-stayed bridge has a main span of 520 meters. Its main towers are equipped with 16 pairs of stay cables each, topped with a kapok tree-shaped crown.
The expressway's 21.6-kilometer main line will start from the Xinken Interchange of the Nansha Port Expressway, end at the Zhongshan-Jiangmen Expressway and connect with the Xinlong Interchange of the Guangzhou-Macao Expressway.
The 10.7-km auxiliary line will connect the main line with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.
