Nansha launches specialized library in medical valley

The Nansha Library inaugurated a medical theme library in the Guangdong Medical Valley on May 18, to loan out books at no charge to people living in the area.

The library is the second branch of the Nansha Library built and opened to the public this year. It features a land area of 1,000 square meters, and has three reading areas for medical, comprehensive and children's books. In addition, the library is equipped with an international talent station.

It owns a collection of over 20,000 books, covering fields such as literature, technology, medicine, and children's health. Of these, nearly 1,800 books were donated by domestic social organizations. 

All the books have been incorporated into the service system for Guangzhou's public libraries, achieving universal borrowing and returns throughout the city.

The collection system of the library is also striving to meet the research and development needs of the enterprises in the medical valley. It collects a large number of professional books related to modern medical pharmacy, life sciences, medical devices, cell therapy, laboratory testing and traditional Chinese medicine.

Of note, there are more than 500 newly published original edition books in the library, which contain many of the latest research achievements in the medical industry, such as gene-editing technology, tissue engineering and medicine development, providing academic support for Nansha's medical professionals.
