The first pile of the Wanlong Bridge, a self-anchored suspension bridge with the world's longest span, was completed on March 1, marking the end of the project's initial foundation engineering and the beginning of its full construction phase.
Constructed by China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group, the project is located in Nansha's Wanqingsha town. It will be an urban trunk road that runs from southwest to northeast.
It starts 500 meters west of Wanxin Avenue in the west and intersects with the planned Wanlong East Road. The main line is about 5.15 kilometers long, with six dual lanes and a designated speed of 60 km per hour.
Upon its completion, the district will then continue to build a sound multi-modal transport network consisting of ports, railways, highways and municipal roads.
The bridge is expected to improve the external radiation capacity of the Nansha International Logistics Center on Longxue Island, and promote the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
