Nansha celebrates harvest festival

The Nansha District Celebration of the 2022 Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival Conference opened at Nansha Urban Agricultural Experiment Park on Sept 24.

At the opening ceremony, Nansha district held the unveiling ceremony of the key agricultural leading enterprises in Guangdong province in 2021, the Nansha Base of the National Plant Aerospace Breeding Engineering Technology Research Center, as well asthe Guangzhou Nansha RCEP Prefabricated Vegetable Display and Experience Center.

In recent years, Nansha has been striving to bolster its rural revitalization efforts. In 2021, the region's total agricultural output value reached 12.26 billion yuan ($1.72 billion), with a growth rate of 10.9 percent, ranking first in Guangzhou for two consecutive years.

In the first half of 2022, Nansha district had a grain planting area of 13,700 mu, a vegetable planting area of 148,900 mu (9927 hectares), and a garden fruit area of 86,000 mu. Its output of aquatic products totaled 52,900 metric tons and it had 48,400 live pigs in that period. In addition, about 1.06 million poultry were sold, while the per capita disposable income of rural permanent residents was 22,014 yuan, a year-on-year growth rate of 5.86 percent.

The Harvest Achievement Exhibition in the five major agricultural areas of Nansha, as well as the exhibition and sales of high-quality agricultural products, were carried out until Sept 25.
