The 100-day countdown to the operation of the First Affiliated (Nansha) Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University was held in Guangzhou's Nansha district on March 6.

The project started construction on July 27, 2018. After more than three years of intensive work, it has now entered its final phase of construction.

The hospital will be a high-level general hospital that integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and other functions. It has been built according to leading standards in China, with the goal of being a first-class facility in the world.

The hospital has 1,500 beds, with a construction area of about 500,000 square meters. The total investment in infrastructure is about 4.8 billion yuan ($780 million). It is scheduled to be put into operation on June 15.

The hospital is located at the geographic center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is directly connected to exit A of Hengli Station of Metro Line 18. Two underground parking lots are designed to facilitate patients from all over the country to come for medical treatment.

Five national key disciplines, including nephrology, as well as 30 national key clinical specialties, including gynecology, obstetrics, and critical care medicine, have been set up in the hospital. Patients in the hospital will be able to enjoy the same high-quality medical services as in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.

The hospital is equipped with world-class medical equipment, such as a medical linear accelerator, large-aperture CTs, and orthopedic surgery robots.
