Guangzhou's Nansha district has now started administrating COVID-19 booster shots amid rising evidence supporting an additional dose of the vaccine can improve immunity.
Those aged 18 and over and have received one of the four types of vaccines in the last six months are able to get the booster shots, namely two Sinopharm inactivated vaccines, which are created by the company's Beijing Institute of Biological Products and its Wuhan Institute of Biological Products. There is also one inactivated vaccine made by Sinovac Biotech, and an adenovirus vector vaccine developed by CanSino Biologics.
Priority will be given to groups with a higher risk of contracting COVID-19 such as cold chain, customs, transportation, and health services personnel as well as police officers and firefighters.
People who want to get a booster shot, except for those groups mentioned above, do not need to make reservations and they can go directly to the vaccination sites with their valid identity cards.
Foreigners in Nansha can also get a booster shot by taking their valid passports or permanent residence permits together with health insurance cards to Guangzhou First People's Hospital Nansha.
