The second phase in construction of the Guangzhou Foreign Language School started in December and when complete it is expected to offer 3,000 more places for students, local media outlets reported on Dec 30.
The first phase of the school, located in Guangzhou's Nansha distric, began operating in January 2010 and now has 2,298 students and 202 teachers.
Phase two, costing 432.05 million yuan ($66.11 million), will cover the construction for a total of 13 buildings.
These will include four five-floor teaching buildings for domestic students, two five-floor laboratory buildings for domestic students, two five-floor teaching buildings for overseas students, a four-floor canteen and three six-floor student dormitory buildings.
The project will cover an overall building area of 77,021 square meters and the building area for overseas students will be 35,868 sq m.
The second phase, when complete, will enroll an estimated 1,800 students from Guangzhou, 1,000 overseas students and 200 exchange students.
