A document on the promotion and protection of intellectual property in the Nansha Area of the China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone was launched during a news conference held in Nansha on April 10.

The document is the first of its kind as a normative document released by local governments featuring both IP promotion and protection among all free trade zones in China.

The document has covered the whole IP industrial chain, namely the innovation, application, protection, administration, and the service of IP.

Various preferential policies have been listed in the document, which are expected to greatly attract more innovation elements to cluster in Nansha. Special funds for IP development will be established for the rewarding of local high value patents, well-known trademarks, and high quality copyrights.

IP professionals from Hong Kong and Macao are expected to be able to provide professional services in designated areas through special mechanisms, which may contribute to the gathering of overseas talents.

Nansha will accelerate the location of various IP projects this year, such as the cluster platform for IP operation service in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and an overseas IP protection assistance mechanism to promote local capacity in IP protection and promotion.

The project of the overseas IP protection assistance mechanism has been designed to establish cooperation relationships with no less than 40 overseas IP service organizations from at least 10 countries to provide relevant services.
