Steps to curb COVID-19 -- quarantine of arrivals to Guangzhou

The Guangzhou government released a notice on strengthening prevention and control of importing of overseas epidemic cases on its official website on March 22.

All passengers, whether Chinese or foreigners, arriving at Guangzhou from overseas after March 8 will be put on 14-day quarantine at home or in designated facilities. The communities are responsible for providing them with health services.

Inbound travelers who enter the country via Guangzhou, or come to Guangzhou via Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and other ports are included.

The home or centralized quarantine period is calculated from the day when the passenger enters Guangzhou city. After 14 days without symptoms and a second negative nucleic acid test, the period of isolated medical observation can be cancelled.

If anyone under the home-based quarantine violates the regulations, he or she shall be transferred to centralized quarantine and bear corresponding responsibilities and the cost of room and board.

The involved inbound travelers must take the initiative to declare health conditions to their communities before March 23, or contact the designated medical institution in various districts. In Nansha, the Guangzhou First People’s Hospital (Nansha Branch) may be called at 22903681.

Anyone who has not received COVID-19 testing after entering the country must provide free samplings for nucleic acid testing and antibody testing. If there is any question, travelers can consult the Guangzhou public health hotline at 12320 or 960169.

Those who conceal facts, evade quarantine observation or refuse to cooperate with a community’s management or to allow novel coronavirus nucleic acid and antibody testing will be listed in the public credit information system for disciplinary punishment and legal responsibility investigation.
