The Industrial Park Development and Construction Administration Bureau of Nansha New Area recently issued an announcement inviting bids for a supporting project of the Guangdong-Hong Kong Industrial Park (Nansha block).
The announcement shows that the project covers an area of about 1.95 square kilometers and has an investment of about 923 million yuan ($131.93 million). It aims to meet rigid industrial infrastructure demands.
The main construction contains municipal road projects of about 7.54 km, a bridge of about 400 meters, and a site leveling project of about 0.38 sq km.
The project will be completed in three phases -- leveling the site and roads, improving public infrastructure and follow-up development.
It is expected to accelerate the introduction of Hong Kong’s industries and refine construction of its enterprises.
The supporting area of the industrial park will create an overall spatial pattern of “three axes, one belt, two centers and multiple pieces”.
The three axes are north-south development axes that echo the overall spatial structure of the Nansha New Area.
One belt refers to a comprehensive service belt composed of the Wuchong River and the waterfront spaces on its two banks. It is divided into three sections for regional, urban and community services.
The first section, based on regional cultural facilities and industries, will provide cultural and artistic performances with free trade characteristics, sports events, auctions, exhibitions and other services; the second targets waterfront businesses and public services for residents in the area; the third will preserve traditional Lingnan water villages by retaining and renovating local dwellings.
The two centers will be the business and trade hub and the comprehensive living service center, and the multi-pieces will be an urban development area with the leading functions of scientific and technological research and development, business and commerce, comprehensive development, and living services.
It is expected that the population in this block will be controlled between 80,000 and 100,000, and employers will fall in a range of 70,000 to 90,000.
The project will connect Mingzhu Science Park and the Nansha Hub, giving play to the advantages of its natural ecological resources and focusing on transformation of the service technology industry and hub business and commerce.
The industrial park will become a demonstration area to achieve breakthroughs in constructing a high-quality living circle, creating an industrial highland led by a productive service sector, and forming a business environment and social management service system in line with international practices.
On this basis, the project will enable Guangdong and Hong Kong to expand cooperation with the mainland, Macao and international industries, and enhance their international competitiveness.
