Nansha unveils signing ceremony for major projects

Guangzhou’s Nansha district on March 9 held a centralized signing and mobilizing ceremony of key projects for the first quarter of 2020, demonstrating its confidence and determination to promote the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In the online activity, 29 projects were started with a total investment of 45.97 billion yuan ($6.59 billion) and 30 projects signed at a value of 115.89 billion yuan. They cover financing, technological innovation, modern agriculture, medical care and other fields pertaining to people’s livelihoods.

“The event made the grade in responding to the first anniversary of implementation of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the fifth anniversary of the listing of the Nansha Free Trade Zone (FTZ),” said Cai Chaolin, the district’s Party Secretary.

The precision medicine industrial base project invited the largest investment at 50 billion yuan and is expected to generate annual income of 10 billion yuan.

Internationally competitive aircraft leasing is a key industry in the Nansha FTZ. China Southern International Leasing plans to invest about 16 billion yuan in the district’s aircraft assets in the next three years.

In terms of science and technology, the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Province Laboratory (Guangzhou) construction project will build five major industrial incubation centers with an investment of about four billion yuan to promote construction of the Maritime Silk Road.

The Pearl Modern Urban Agricultural Experimental Park project is planned as a 10,300-acre base with local Lingnan cultural characteristics and integration of production, display, tourism and leisure.

The Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center (Nansha Branch) will become an upper first-class hospital and a first-ranked national hospital. After completion, it will further improve the district’s medical and health service system.

Many Hong Kong enterprises choose to settle in Nansha due to its convenient traffic pattern and favorable financial environment.

The HSBC Global Training Center, now under construction, will be the HSBC Group’s largest flagship training base in the world and also the first global-oriented training center to be located in the mainland. It will provide training classes for about 14,000 HSBC Asia Pacific employees and senior managers after 2024.

Vitasoy, headquartered in Hong Kong, is a reputable dairy trademark at home and abroad. Its Nansha branch will serve as a headquarters company and distribution center in the Mainland.

This event was held in a main venue and six branch venues. Considering the impact of the epidemic, the site was broadcast live via the 5G video connection to the projects.

It attracted attention from central, Hong Kong, Macao, and some provincial and municipal media, including Phoenix Media, Nanfang plus and Sina.com. According to preliminary statistics, more than 1.2 million viewers took it in online.
