Nansha sums up highlights of its virus control efforts

Updated: 2020-03-11

Guangzhou recently held a news briefing on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic efforts of all of its districts.

Xie Ming, vice mayor of Nansha district, said that Nansha has mobilized social security guards to prepare both anti-epidemic materials and living materials and encouraged import as well as domestic proliferation of goods since the outbreak. In that way the district has balanced its virus prevention and control with resumption of production.

The district highlights the role of social support and smart city technology, and focuses on enterprises’ resumption of production in the fight against the virus.

Nansha introduced 20 measures to mobilize Party organizations and Party members to join the front line of epidemic prevention and control.

A pioneer team of more than 20 medical professionals was formed at the very beginning of the outbreak.

Volunteer teams rushed to the front line of epidemic prevention and control. The district set up 51 volunteer teams to provide food-delivery, nursing, procurement, and psychological counseling to the families with members under medical observation.

Nansha took the lead in establishing district-level epidemic prevention and control systems by using smart city and block chain technology to open up real-time data in its various departments.

In this way, the epidemic situation, prevention and control materials, enterprise resumption filings, and political documents can be checked in a timely manner. At the same time, the pressure on frontline staff has been greatly reduced.

The district also applied infrared human body surface temperature rapid screening equipment in major commercial squares, communities (villages), and enterprises in order to improve the level of smart anti-epidemic warfare.

In order to reduce the impact of the epidemic on local economic and social development, Nansha improved its policy systems to help enterprises resume production.

At first the district rolled out 10 measures to support enterprises, while its local customs issued 13 measures to support import and export enterprises affected by the epidemic. The financial sector introduced tax cut, rent reduction, and interest discount policies to aid small and medium-sized enterprises.

As of Feb 17, Nansha firms listed in the top 100 industrial enterprises in Guangzhou had achieved a resumption rate of 100 percent, and 96.67 percent of enterprises with more than 1,000 employees were back in production.
