Nansha hi-techs initiate remote work

A number of enterprises in Guangzhou’s Nansha district have been on track to resume production since Feb 10.

To support epidemic prevention and control of coronavirus pneumonia, they launched a “remote work” model in order to avoid gathering in the office.

In CAS Smart City (Guangzhou) Information Technology Co, technical research & development (R&D) personnel are far away at home and operate the company’s computers remotely through a network connection to achieve online office work.

“Thanks to online office software, the team’s work efficiency is not affected,” said Wu Hong, deputy director of the company’s R&D department.

On Feb 2, an epidemic prevention and control collaboration system was officially put into use in Nansha, with five major functional modules connecting various departments.

This powerful assistance can be attributed to 72-hours of high-intensity remote collaborative development work by an incubation team. CAS Smart City is one of its three members.

“Our technicians are constantly updating the function modules these days. As of 24:00 on Feb 9, the system had gathered 398 items and 270,000 epidemic prevention related pieces of data.” Wu said that the company is accelerating the renewal of the filing system to effectively meet the needs of local enterprises.

As of noon on Feb 11, 687 Nansha enterprises have submitted resumption filing applications through the system.

Zhaoke Pharmaceutical (Guangzhou) Co, a biomedical company affiliated to the Hong Kong listed enterprise Lee’s Pharmaceutical Co, also officially resumed work from Feb 10.

Its research and development drugs cover cardio - cerebral - vascular, ophthalmology, tumors and other medical areas. The number of employees in the district has reached 200.

Chen Yuesheng, deputy general manager of the company, said that the company is a research and production company, and 70 percent of its employees are production staff. Now 10-15 percent of them are working from home.

It has strict real-time epidemic prevention measures in densely public places such as canteens and toilets in the office area. Employees on lower floors can only use stairs, and elevators can only be taken if carrying no more than five people. The dining hall seats are also arranged in single one-way rows.

“Now we are purchasing protective materials such as masks through various channels to ensure the smooth resumption of work and production,” said Chen, who added that they also hope to quickly implement a green and rapid clearance acceptance mechanism to alleviate the shortage of protecting supplies.”
