Nansha Customs fast tracks building and medical supplies

Updated: 2020-02-10

“Our company has a batch of ventilator manufacturing materials that need to be distributed urgently to the Huoshenshan (Fire God Mountain) Hospital in Wuhan, a newly-established hospital for contagious pneumonia patients.”

On Feb 2, Guangzhou’s Nansha Customs received a clearance call from the Guangzhou Tianning Forwarding Co. It responded quickly by immediately opening a green channel for the badly-needed epidemic prevention and control supplies.

The materials to aid the Wuhan hospital were polycarbonate (PC) pellets purchased by the Mindray Biomedical Electronics Co. They weighed 1,925 kilograms.

The goods were stored in the Nansha Bonded Port Area. Relying on the customs information system, the imported donated materials achieved zero delay in customs clearance.

Lin Weixing, deputy general manager of the freight forwarding company, said that it took only half an hour to complete all the passage work.

The pick-up vehicle arrived at the bonded port at 15:25, and the load was driven out of the processing zone at 15:55, then the materials were quickly transported to the production line, Lin added.

On Feb 3, protective materials donated by overseas companies entered the country by air via Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, and were directed to the front line of epidemic prevention and control in Guangzhou.

The supplies included 57,500 latex gloves, 4,175 protective clothing items and 26 sleeping bags, which were donated to the Nansha Branch of the Guangzhou First People’s Hospital through the Guangdong Charity Federation.

The local customs quickly activated a prior passage and a special service window for the import of epidemic controlling materials, and adopted the nationwide integrated paperless customs declaration model.

The whole process took only seven minutes, according to the authority.

Customs supervised fast service for four batches of epidemic prevention and control materials from Jan 23 to Feb 2, including 10,000 N95 masks, 1,152 Braun thermometers, and 1,925 kg of PC plastic pellets for ventilator manufacturing.
