A group of medical staff in Guangzhou's Nansha district is waging a front-line battle against the novel coronavirus.
Workers in Yuwotou Hospital and Tung Chung Hospital -- two local township medical units -- all canceled their Spring Festival leaves to take up the battle against the virus epidemic.
Yuwotou Hospital started to transform inpatient areas in accordance with the basic requirements of infectious disease prevention and control institutions on Jan 27. One on the third floor has been put into us; three are still being reconstructed.
Tung Chung responded by setting up special triage rooms and fever clinics.
The medical group also carried out quarantine work at the Qingsheng station of the Guangzhou- Shenzhen- Hong Kong High-speed Railway. They were on duty 24 hours a day to measure and monitor travelers' health.
In the hospitals' isolation areas, the medical personnel sterilize the rooms every day, measure patients' temperatures every morning and evening, and provide people isolated with preventive health care information.
The hospitals have arranged an ambulance to fetch those who are unable to go to the quarantine areas.
In the medical observation areas, the medical staff remains patient and serious, even in the face of emotional suspected cases. They strive to gain trust from the sick, so that patients can actively cooperate with examination and treatment.
The hospitals have also organized training on infection prevention and control in various departments and distributed more than 80 brochures to residents.
In addition, recyclable trash cans with masks are provided in all departments and floors of both facilities.
