An award ceremony for China’s top 10 happiest cities in 2019 was held in Guangzhou on Nov 25. Ten prefecture-level cities and ten county-level cities received the honor.
Guangzhou was named as a top 10 happiest city (prefecture-level), and the Nansha district—Guangzhou’s sub-center—also won the title at district-level.
This is the 13th consecutive year the rating has been organized by Oriental Outlook magazine and the Liaowang Think Tank.
Themed around “celebrating achievements over the last 70 years and embracing happiness in the new era”, this year’s ratings were based on big data, a questionnaire survey, and an expert review.

The district has blossomed into a modern and attractive place after years of development, and it will become the portal of the cities cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Transportation has seen rapid growth after the construction of high-speed railways, subways, bridges and a cruise ship home port. Core cities in the Bay Area will all be within a half-hour reach in the near future.
The favorable business environment contributed a lot to local economic development. Nansha has made institutional innovations in the commercial field in recent years, leading to a rapid increase in the local GDP.
The district is intelligently planned with convenient living areas. It has been fostering a smart urban ecosystem, relying on the development of the artificial intelligent industry.
In addition, it is green with a quality environment. It is the only state-level health tourist resort in Guangdong province.
