Updated: 2019-10-28

Guangzhou’s Nansha district held a signing ceremony on Oct 23 for the High-Quality Domestic and Overseas Education Projects. Nine elite schools, one public, six private and two international, are to settle in the district.

This is a major initiative to expand the total volume of the district’s educational resources and improve the quality of its supporting facilities.

The nine signatory schools are: Guangzhou Zhixin High School, Lincoln Academy, Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital School, Guangzhou Hengxin Stanford Experimental School, two King’s College Schools, Chaoyang School and two Wilson’s Schools.

Zhixin High School will be constructed as a nine-year public school, enrolling 2,520 students in 54 classes. It is entrusted with conveying advanced educational ideas, management experience and campus culture.

“Nansha is home to talented entrepreneurs and job seekers who have demands of superior education for their children. And Zhixin High School is an outstanding powerhouse with nearly a hundred-year history. It’s eager to combine the former’s needs and the latter’s advantages,” said the school’s Party chief Chen Min.

Notably, the district’s Qingshen hub cluster is expected to build China’s first high-end international education park, which will be home to two excellent foreign schools -- Lincoln Academy of the US and Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital School of the UK.

The district has tried to promote local educational undertakings in recent years by cooperating with superior provincial and municipal education brands, domestic top universities and overseas elite secondary schools.

It has also paid attention to new school construction, rebuilding and extension of existing schools and centralized school management.

Thirty-five schools have renovated their equipment and network systems, and 200 smart classrooms are operational in the district’s high schools, deeply integrating information technology with teaching.
