Updated: 2019-10-09

Guangzhou’s Nansha district put on two activities on Sept 27 to commend those who are dedicated to local spiritual civilization practice and are members of New Era Civilization Practice volunteer groups or Good Men in Nansha moral models.

The district’s Party Secretary Cai Chaolin presented flags to 20 volunteer groups, and the “good men” shared their stories throughout the activities. A total of 450 delegates of moral models, volunteers, cadres and members of the general public attended.

Nansha launched the New Era Civilization Practice Center at the beginning of this year, and had constructed a service system by August which includes a general team, ten specialized teams targeted on various sectors such as education, legal publicity and rural revitalization, and also nine town and street teams to offer all-standing services to the district.

The volunteer delegates on the stage wore blue and white uniforms decorated with sea waves, the arch of Nansha Free Trade Zone, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and Canton Tower patterns.

A volunteer surnamed Gao from the Corporate Service Corps in the local posting and delivery sector, said that she regularly takes part in activities to help the disabled, elders and children of migrant workers; meanwhile her team often encourages enterprises to donate their time or money.

Zhang Zikang, a successor of Guangzhou’s intangible cultural heritage Kylin Dance and one of the “Good Men in Nansha”, told a story of his elder generation’s strenuous efforts for the inheritance. He also chose to return home and carry forward the tradition after his graduation due to feelings of nostalgia.

He then gave a stunning performance of “Kylin: The Flourishing Age” with his team, which ignited the atmosphere and pushed it to a climax.

“It’s my great honor to share my experience and show the Kylin Dance to the public. I prepared for the performance all last night,” said Zhang.
