Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, the chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, extended her congratulations to the initiating of the two projects.

She said that the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) will contribute to breaking new ground in the exchange of higher education between Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

The Hong Kong government will support the educational development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area under the framework of “One Country, Two Systems” by fostering talents with innovative ability and international horizons.

Ma Xingrui, on behalf of the Party committee and government of Guangdong Province, welcomed all the guests at the site and expressed a resolve to intensify the cooperation and build a better bay area.

The Mingzhu Science Park, a science and education project co-constructed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Guangzhou municipal government, has committed to five facilities including the Guangdong Aerospace Science and Technology Research Institute, the Guangdong Intelligent Unmanned System Research Institute, the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Guangzhou Branch and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guangzhou.
